New Plymouth Riding for the Disabled relies on the generosity and time given by volunteers in the community. Our volunteers are hard workers and are dedicated to our riders. Without their help we wouldn't be able to do what we do.
We are looking for fit and able bodied people to work with our horses and riders. You don't necessarily have to be a 'horse person' to get involved! Riding for the Disabled values all kinds of kiwis to help us make a difference in the lives of the many people who face physical, intellectual, neurological, sensory or social and emotional challenges throughout New Zealand.
Riding for the Disabled provides opportunities for people who want to give back to their community, grow new friendships, gain new skills and have rewarding and fulfiling experiences. Whether you have a lot of time -or just a little- there are many ways you can be part of our friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic team.
If you think volunteering suits you can send us an email or pop into the stables during out operating hours to get the volunteer forms. Please note that the police vetting can take between 2 and 5 weeks to process before you can start volunteering.
After contacting us, you can watch some of the training videos below while you wait!
