Our outdoor covered sand arena is a usable size of 20x40m. It has open, fenced sides with 10 horse yards under cover.
Our covered arena is available for hire outside of our RDA session times during the school term. During school holidays it is available for hire 7 days a week. Hireage is not limited to horse related activities.
For first time hireage, prior booking is required during our operating hours (school terms Monday-Thursdays 8:30am-2pm) and a contract signed.

$20 per hour for one horse
+ $5 per extra horse. Maximum of 6 horses

Up to a maximum of 6 floats at any one time, on-site or road side on Alba Street.
1 down by the arena.
1 up by the stables on the grass area.
1 on the left side as you go into the stable area. That leaves another way in or out.
Up to 3 on the road side outside the gate.
All terms and conditions of arena hire must always be adhered to.
Any individual or club responsible for hiring the arena is also responsible for paying New Plymouth RDA the ground fee for any extra horses during that hire period. New Plymouth RDA wishes to receive one payment per hire period, which is to include ground fees of additional horses.
Booking Policy – Booking payment to be made online before your hireage. Cancellation requires 24 hours’ notice. Payment to be made on line to: TSB Bank, account: 15 3942 0009539-00. Reference your name or organisation name please.
The arena and immediate surrounds will be presented to you in a clean and tidy fashion. You are expected to leave them as you find them, clean of manure and rubbish, dishes washed, dried and put away, (if the kitchen is included in your hire) power points turned off etc. A brush, mop and bucket will be available for kitchen hirers, and horse manure bucket and shovel for arena users. All rubbish to be removed from grounds.
Take horse manure and hay with you from around your horse float/ truck.
No hay is to be fed in the arena.
Any damage must be reported to management and all costs will be covered by hirer. Call: 0272737534 to report damage.
Hirers will also be responsible for any insurance excess if New Plymouth RDA has to make a claim as a result of damage.
Premises to be locked when you leave.
Children (under 16) must be supervised by an adult at all times. The hirer will be responsible for the proper control of spectators, competitors and all persons hiring the facility* at all times.
Protective head gear is to be worn at all times when mounted.
Anyone schooling over jumps MUST be accompanied by a second person.
No smoking in the facility* whatsoever.
No alcohol is to be consumed in the facility*.
No glass is to be taken into the arena.
Dogs must be kept on leads and strictly under control.
New Plymouth RDA will not accept responsibility or liability in respect of any damage to or loss of property. New Plymouth RDA will not be held responsible if any injury or illness occurred to you or your horse while on RDA premises.
The hirer will be responsible for providing their own first aid kit for their event.
Any breach of these conditions may result in the hirer being blocked from further hireage.
By hiring the facility you agree to these terms and conditions.
NOTE: THE FACILITY IS DEFINED AS THE ARENA AND SURROUNDS, TOILET, AND THE PARKING AREA. BY AGREEMENT THE KITCHEN CAN BE INCLUDED.
